This is another fine mess that @mhardy6647 has gotten me into. ;)

The vintage Sylvania 6SN7W I got from Mark has become my favorite tube for the Schiit Saga - outclassed, by a narrow margin, the Shugang CV181 and Tung-Sol 6SN7.

    So...... :)

    1. What other 6SN7 (or equivalent) tubes should I consider?
    2. Anyone have some interesting 6SN7 (or equivalent) types they would be willing to sell?

    I only need one. ;) :)

    Is that Tung-Sol a reissue ?

You might consider trying some of the other US brands - Raytheon, RCA, GE.

  3. Have you read the Vacuum Tube Valley issues 11? They compare few of the 6SN7, but they since became very expensive.

Yes, the Tung-Sol is a reissue.

In the past, I have put together a group of 5-10 12AU7s or 6SN7s for people to try. I used to offer them on eBay with a price for the whole lot, then an offer to send back any that you didn't want for a prorated refund. I had surprisingly few takers!

I don't need a pair of any one tube (the Saga only uses a single 6SN7).

Do you have any packages of single 6SN7s? :)

  12. I have a huge stash of 6SN7 tubes and the equipment I use on an everyday basis doesn't use any 6SN7s. Such is life! In general I like GE 6SN7GTB in long tailed pair phase splitters, and RCAs (GT, GTA and GTB) and Tung-Sols as gain tubes. I have never had much luck with Sylvanias. I also have some Raytheons and a few other brands but don't recall any details.

@TubeHiFiNut: I have some singles. I'll go through my stash and see what brands I've got.

I can put together a package with 5-10 different old stock ones. Prices on eBay are getting pretty stupid for them, but $10/tube seems about right. I'll refund everything but shipping for any you don't like and send back.

I have the following single 6SN7s (they have testing marks on them from another seller but I have never used any of these; so they are untested by me. They may be noisy; they may not be):

CBS GTB Side getter, black plate
    Raytheon GTB, long grey plate
RCA GTB, side getter, black plate
    GE GTB grey plate
Sylvania GTA, black plate, chrome top

You're welcome to any or all. I can just pop these all in a package and let you try them out, if you pay shipping. If there's any you really want to keep, just let me know and we can negotiate a price. Send back what you don't want.
