The Great Tidal to Tape Experiment

I saw an Elcaset deck at an estate sale and had no idea what it was. This was a good bit of time into my collecting of vintage gear.. good reminder that I actually didn't grow up with this stuff, so only get what became popular and lasted long enough to come to my attention in the next generation.

First off I love the idea of banning the internet from your HiFi! You guys are really making me think, considering the extensive cost of recorded media for reel to reel, this is a great way to get some high quality material for that medium . I've got an Otari 5050BII that I may just press into service soon. 👍

Hey, its all on fun, right?

And the plan now is to have two systems. The downstairs one is physical media. No internet. Upstairs will be streaming only. Pretty @Pat McGinty built speakers, and no racks of gear.

I don’t remember what I’ve said in this thread but SACD to R2R is highly thought of as an excellent sounding medium. Similar to how I use transformers to “inform” the sound of my excellent sources that may otherwise sound a bit too direct, too “audiophile”, for my liking.

Good to hear your Esoteric V-9000 has been serviced and busy with taping and playback duties. I had my own Esoteric V-9000 in for a minor service back in February of this year. It was the second minor service in over eleven years of owning it.
