The new SL1200: Just don't say it's Gae

That was one of the most revealing threads I've ever read. And frustrating. The kind of thing that makes you question your choice of pastime. it looks like this Technics is all new tooling however and first rate. At least going by what they've described.

It certainly seems to be a whole new creature, though I do wish they had given it a bit more of a new face, if for no other reason than to make it more distinctive from the many clones of its predecessor.

Popping back to this old thread just to see if anyone has actually seen one of these "in the flesh" and heard it?

Awww, you guys are missing the Technics army. Is everyone here a mod, admin or owner? Just kidding. At least there is no one to argue with about the SL1200, here in the Haven.

I'm not missing the 1200 army at all, to be honest. And if I do, they aren't that hard to find.

I'm not missing them at all. either. I am still curious what impressions will be when someone actually sees one of the new model, though.

How charming that they are a full-on audio and home theater store yet have retained "Radio" in their name!

Much of the charm has left the store unfortunately, but it is still family owned (Mark Mandelsohn runs it now, since his dad retired). Although they have a lot of surround sound type stuff there, and the second floor was all Bose lady tone I was there, you can still put together a killer 2 channel system in any budget range, and they still have a wall of turntables!

Btw, my dad bought his "portable" Philips reel to reel from there in 1962 or so.
